Juvenile Justice Services help families and youth who have been adjudicated, received a probationary judgment, and/or exhibited “at-risk” behaviors in Wayne County, Michigan.
Care Management System (CMS)
CMS connects youth with valuable community resources to reduce incarceration, help develop healthy family relationships, and develop positive aspirations for the future.
Eligibility Criteria: Referrals are received from the Wayne County Department of Children and Family Services for youth ages 10-21who has been adjudicated, received a judgment of probation, or exhibited “at-risk” behavior in Wayne County, Michigan. Intensive Family Services
Many of the youth and families in the Care Management System (CMS) require a more intense level of care. The Intensive Family Services program partners with the CMS to specialize in addressing all needs of the family provides support that keeps youth in community based programs, and reunites youth with their families. Committed and compassionate Therapist partner with families and youth ages 12 to 21 to provide a wide range, of effective interventions that ensures youth learn essential social skills to abstain from delinquent behavior.

Support In the Home-therapeutic Counseling
The In Home CMS program is a culturally sensitive treatment model that builds a cohesive team of youth, family, and therapist to develop, enhance, and participate in home based skill building exercises such as counseling, life and household management skills, child development education, and parenting classes.

Treatment Foster Care
BFDI believes that the best place for youth to flourish is in a home where responsible adults support their successful growth and development. Treatment Foster Care provides an intensive community-based treatment program to youth in need of foster care services. This holistic program aims to empower and unify youth, foster families, and biological families to develop a cohesive team. Their primary goals are to help the youth maintain community based status, develop productive and healthy relationships with their family and friends, realize academic achievement, and develop optimistic goals for the futures. The Juvenile Mentoring program is designed to match responsible and caring adults with youth to provide guidance, resources, and support services to aid in their development and stability.

Multi-Systemic Therapy
The Multi-Systemic Therapy (MST) program is an intensive, family-centered mental health treatment service for youth and their family. It uniquely incorporates all domains of a youth’s life, including home, peers, school, and community involvement. MST is a strength based treatment model, identifying strengths and weaknesses of the family, and then working within the family’s strengths to facilitate change. In Home Care Therapeutic Counseling programs provides individual, group, marital, family counseling, or psychotherapy to Care Management System participants. Individual and family sessions are one-on-one and generally 50 minutes in duration. Group counseling sessions are generally 60-90 minutes in duration and address those problems that either contribute or are the consequence of family stress and problems that interfere with parent role performance. The In Home Care (JAC) Services assist parents in identifying and correcting barriers to home safety for the healthy development of children. Family workers demonstrate non-abusive child management skills. Parents learn appropriate child care techniques, housekeeping skills, money management skills, health and nutrition information, and communication skills. Family workers continue to monitor parents, ensure children’s school attendance, and provide support of parental efforts. Sessions are generally 50 minutes in duration.
